Jerry Thompson (affectionately known as Nick) was third born of eight siblings on October 22, 1946, in Oak Vale, Mississippi to the late Malcolm and Lillian Thompson. Jerry was baptized at an early age at New Zion Baptist Church in Oak Vale, Mississippi.
The family moved to Gulfport, Mississippi, where he attended Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, under the pastorage of the late Rev. D. B. Barnes until his adulthood. Jerry attended North Gulfport High School. After graduation from high school, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corp. After time served with the Marines, Jerry moved to Detroit, Michigan and later moved to San Francisco, California. He attended San Francisco City College where he received an associate degree. He worked for Safeway for 25 years and retired.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Lillian Thompson; his oldest sister, Mattie Thompson, a son, Dwayne Anthony Roberts, a nephew/brother, Christopher Thompon, two grandsons, Debarren Roberts and Terrell Savles; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Cook and a father-in-law, Mr. Willie Cook. Jerry Thompson, entered into eternal rest on November 18, 2023 at 1:17am in Suisun, California.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife, Mrs. Yvonne Thompson of Suisun, California, two daughters; Mrs. TaTaneka (Shun) Thibeaux of Stockton, California and Mrs. Renika (Kerluis) Espinal of Suisun, California; two brothers, Mr. Clarence (Ethel) Thompson, Augusta, Georgia and Stennis Thompson of Gulfport, Mississippi; four sisters, Mrs. Regina Crowell, Mrs. Jennifer (Orlander) Grovesnor, Jr., Mrs. Del (Donald) Frederick all of Gulfport, Mississippi; Mrs. Barbara (Thomas) Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters-in-laws, Mrs. Emma Rolling of Suisun, California and Ethel Thompson; four brothers-in-laws; Ronald Hardy of Shreveport, Louisiana; Thomas Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama, Orlander Grovesnor, Jr. and Donald Frederick both of Gulfport, Mississippi. Three Grandchildren, Logan Espinal, J'dah Thibeaux and Jabari Thibeaux; one Great-Grandson, Linzy Taylor V., a host of nieces, nephews and other loving cousins, relatives and friends who will miss him.
